about

Excerpts from three hours of demolition aired on The Chestnut Tree program via KPFT [03.07.14] as a tribute to the Houston Federation of Women's Clubs and those who currently support local preservation and gentrification issues.

Source: Two days of recording the demolition machinery and debris at 411 Lovett Blvd, next door to the KPFT studios. Initially, the mansion of Frank Bullock, the building [c.1906] later housed the Houston chapter of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs. These groups supported and organized the promotion of education, literacy, woman's suffrage, civil rights, public space and preservation issues in Houston.
